The United Auto Workers Union has agreed to make substantial concessions to Ford Motor Company. These include giving up cash bonuses, cost of living pay raises and at least one paid holiday. Meanwhile, officials at General Motors and Chrysler say they are likely to need even more dramatic givebacks from the union. Professor Harley Shaiken is a Detroit native who specializes in labor issues at the University of California-Berkley. Michigan Radio’s Jack Lessenberry spoke with him.
