Chrysler and General Motors filed their recovery plans yesterday. The companies said they need another 19 billion dollars to survive. They also said that it would cost U-S taxpayers far more money than that if they declared bankruptcy. Sean McAlinden is Chief Economist at the Center for Automotive Research. Michigan Radio’s Jack Lessenberry spoke with him about the state of the auto industry.
