Last month, Michigan voters overwhelmingly voted for Proposal 2, which outlaws the use of affirmative action for racial or gender preferences in government hiring or college admissions programs. Now a coalition of groups including the NAACP and the ACLU have asked a federal judge in Detroit to declare affirmative action still legal. Mark Rosenbaum is an ACLU lawyer who has fought similar cases in California. He is also a U of M law professor. Michigan Radio’s Jack Lessenberry spoke with him.
