For 40 years, Grace Lee Boggs and her late husband Jimmy, were the talk of Detroit intellectual circles. He was black, she Chinese-American and together they tried to come up with a new vision for a post-industrial Detroit. Now she is 90 and still trying to change the city. Among other things, she is the guiding spirit of Detroit Summer. It’s an annual program that brings school children together with older generations to “rebuild Detroit from the ground up.” Michigan Radio’s Jack Lessenberry spoke with her.
Yes, Grace Lee Boggs is an awesome person. I am glad to know her personally. She is a great inspiration to all the young people she has talked to. She has touched my life in many ways and I am glad that you interviewed her.
p.s. I love your show and I was wondering why you do not have an hour show anymore and your podcasts are short now.
