President Bush’s major educational initiative was the No Child Left Behind Act. It has remained controversial ever since it became law in 2001. Now, a coalition of nine school districts, including Pontiac’s, have filed suit in federal court. They claim that the No Child Left Behind requirements are unconstitutional. The case will be argued in a federal appeals court tomorrow. Sharif Shakrani is co-director of Michigan State University’s Education Policy Center. Michigan Radio’s Jack Lessenberry spoke with him about the lawsuit.
