Interview: Thomas Segrue - 11/19/2008

When we think of the civil rights movement, images of Selma, Montgomery, or Birmingham come to mind. But there was another different, though equally intense, struggle going on in the North. Detroit native Thomas Segrue is a professor of history and sociology at the University of Pennsylvania. He’s the author of the new book Sweet Land of Liberty: The Forgotten Struggle for Civil Rights in the North. Michigan Radio’s Jack Lessenberry spoke with him.
