Nuclear power is very much back in the news here. DTE Energy wants to build a new nuclear reactor near Monroe, the state’s first in decades. But at the same time DTE is running out of room to store radioactive spent fuel. Meanwhile, the attorney general is fighting a move to sell the Palisades Nuclear Plant. David Lochbaum is a nuclear safety engineer for the Union of Concerned Scientists. Michigan Radio’s Jack Lessenberry spoke with him.
