Earlier this spring, the state legislature voted to vastly toughen the standards required for high school graduation. But the proposed social studies standards have become controversial. And now the state schools superintendent has postponed bringing them to the state board of education. Michigan Radio’s Jack Lessenberry spoke with Mike Flanagan, the state superintendent of schools.
